Care for People | Care for the Land | Care for Coffee
The land and people of Bolivia are amongst the most culturally rich and ecologically diverse in Latin America. They also face key barriers.
…rural students complete an average of 4.2 years before dropping out to support their families economically.
…3 out of 4 women experience domestic or sexual violence.
…Bolivia holds the lowest GDP per capita in all of South America.
…and is ranked amongst the most vulnerable countries to extreme climate events in the world.
Through excellent coffee and meaningful partnership, Khana Collective cultivates upstream transformation in Bolivia. We catalyze responsible development by centering local voices and leadership, with a particular focus on Indigenous communities, women, and children.
Coffee is the path and community flourishing is the destination.

Our Values
-
Partnership means that our business relationships go beyond a transaction. Whether with co-op members or international buyers, we believe that real impact happens when there is a level of commitment that doesn’t just follow the market. Khana welcomes partners to spend time on the land, to get to know the producers and their families, or to share a cup of sultana while we talk about how we can all do better. We want to work with you so that we can elevate each other.
-
Khana is more than just a social initiative with coffee as a means to an end. A love for, and commitment to, exceptional specialty coffee drives all that we do. The Khana team is made up of well-respected experts in the field in Bolivia and beyond, and the start of this initiative has widely expanded the potential for specialty coffee in the regions we work. Khana is eager to grow and committed to quality at every step.
-
Trust is the sign that genuine relationship and resilient partnership have been built. Khana Collective does not take lightly the trust that producer partners place in the administrative team to represent them and their products well, while also trusting that there is an authentic commitment to the wellbeing of their communities. We are committed to earning our current and future partners’ trust, including you.
-
“Khana” in Aymara, the primary Indigenous language where the Collective works, means clarity and light. We invest in what moves the mission forward with clarity, transparency, and commitment.
